I do believe it will start October 21 to November 16 th

Always starts the last FULL week of October (Sunday - Saturday)

Same as the Moose season, last full week of September (Sunday - Saturday)

Man I wish you were right, but unfortunately we will never be this lucky and have a rifle deer hunt this late. Unless the Fish and Wildlife Act gets a grand make-over, the deer gun season will start on the Monday of the last ''full'' week of October, as always...... :mellow:

My letter to Santa this year was that DNR introduces Sunday hunting accross the board for all game species (big or small), for all weapons, and once and for all clean the FWA by starting all seasons on a fixed date (ie: the 1st of October) and ending the seasons on a fixed date (ie: the 20th of November).

With a full allowance on Sunday hunting, this would be SOOOO much easier.....in the meantime, I go salmon fishing on most Sundays during the season and keep wondering what is so different casting a fly out to Salmo Salar for 3hrs or sitting on stand? :wacko:

Sorry, didn't mean to hi-jack your thread, but man it would be nice to have a late season deer hunt.....I can't remember the last time I tracked a deer in snow in NB.....actually for me it was in 2004....nice 8 pointer at 70 yards....BOOM!

Pretty sure it starts the 4th Monday in October. That would be Oct 28th this year so bucksnducks I think is correct.

Yup, I retract my original post (the first sentence anyway, I stand by the rest! lol) , it is on the 4th Monday of October, not the Monday of the last full week of October so yes, this year it seems we will enjoy a late rifle season! Thanks GG for pointing this out ;) , I must be getting old or somethin'......TGIF!

Sorry guys!

I just read it in the act... Deer season startes the first monday in october and runs for 7 weeks... so that would put the 28 as the start for rifle.

11(1)Wildlife may be hunted as follows:

(a)subject to sections 3.1, 11.1 and 11.2, antlered deer and antlerless deer for a period of seven consecutive weeks beginning on the first Monday in October annually;

All the seasons should open on Saturday so the average working man could enjoy it.

I always thought it was the last full week in October for rifle, but I'll take October 28.

If you are not working to protect hunting, then you are working to destroy it.

Yes sir will be nice to get at em later and have a week to hunt ducks before the bow season opens!
I agree that we should be able to hunt every Sunday and I think all of our hunting season should open and close week later. The only way to acomplish this is join fish and game clubs and as a collective voice, lobby DNR thats how we got the Sunday hunting we enjoy now and is why 12 year olds can hunt small game with parents now.

Bitter sweet news. I hope the winter stays mild without too much snow so those yearlings-3yr olds everyone saw last season will live to be shooters next season. It may even help the deer numbers by having the season later because so many people think the big bucks get stupid later in the season and they may hold out on shooting smaller bucks early in the season to get the chance at a monster the last week. I saw that happen many times in NS but the big bucks do not get real brave like the younger bucks from my experience.
